Up North

Crazy how life can get in the way and make it so that you’re too busy to do the things you love most. Traveling, writing, and reading are the things that get pushed to the wayside for me. I’ve finally gotten to catch up on all three of those activities as of lately.

This weekend my husband and I took a four hour trip up north to Lutsen,MN. The reason for the trip was simple: to get away from it all. But what we got out of it was so much more.

Right off the bat we found we had so much we needed to catch up on and talk about. The four hour car ride went by like a breeze. It is so hard to have meaningful conversations these days with distractions coming from daily life, busy schedules, and the constant need to be on our cell phones. This vacation took us away from all of that.

We had such an amazing time exploring the various things the northern shores’ of Lake Superior has to offer. From road trips to local hiking trails and from alpine sliding to board game playing we will not forget these unforgettable memories.

Even despite being exceptionally cold for this time of year, we continued to choose to have a great time together. Nothing was going to rain on our parade, nor this small amount of time we were spending together outside of our daily lives. Which is one of the reasons why I love travel: I love the time we so happily choose to spend together.

I also love this break in our schedules where I take the time to write about wonderful adventures like this one. It’s not easy to keep up on journaling or a blog like this. However, I think it is important. I was telling Seyver throughout this trip that he had to let me take picture whether he likes it or not. As much as I complain about technology, it really does make it easy to record the the memories we create.

He hated taking these pictures 🙂

I hope you are able to take time out of your busy summer schedule to enjoy the things you love and the people you love. Make sure to record it as well so that you never forget:)
